The Sunday Post: Reviewing the Week and Looking Ahead – 2/4/2024

Is anyone else feeling slightly overwhelmed by February?? There are so many great new releases coming out this month. I just finished planning out my February reading and blog schedule, which helped me feel a little less strained. Some months just feel like a lot of great books all at once, though.

In other news, it is beautiful weather here! We spent a good bit of the day today outside playing with the dogs and cleaning up our barn and porch. It was so nice to finally have sunny, slightly warmer weather. It almost feels like Spring, but I know Spring is still probably a couple of cold fronts away.

Upcoming Posts & Reviews

Next week is jam-packed with reviews. The Bad Ones by Melissa Albert, Walking to Aldebaran by Adrian Tchaikovsky, A Tempest of Tea by Hadsah Faizal, The Arsenic Eater’s Wife by Tonya Mitchell, and Mary Tyler MooreHawk by Dave Baker all should appear on the blog. Coincidentally, these all have gorgeous covers.

What I Read This Week

I know February means love month, which should mean romance books, or at least romance-heavy books. Right? Unfortunately, I’m just not in the mood for a lot of my romance-heavy books right now.

I finally finished The Tainted Cup this week! I can’t wait to get my review posted, because I have a LOT of thoughts. I also finished The Annual Migration of Clouds, Queer Villains of Myth and Legend, Yours for the Taking, and Dusted in Snowflakes.

Currently Reading

I’m more than halfway through The Bad Ones by Melissa Albert, and I’m really loving it so far! It’s a frothy YA mystery with a supernatural twist, and I don’t think I’ve ever read anything quite like it.

Recent Purchases

There are a few great book & comic bundles on Humble Bundle right now! There’s a romantasy/urban fantasy dramatized audiobook bundle, a massive Terry Pratchett ebook bundle, a manga bundle, and an Image Comics bundle. My husband and I have used Humble Bundle for years for games and books without any issues, so I definitely recommend trying one of these if they interest you. I picked up the $1 tier of the audiobook bundle and the $18 tier of the Image Comics bundle.

Final Thoughts on the Week

I hope you all are doing well this week! Don’t get too lost in the stacks of books or too overwhelmed by the releases this week. I’m doing my best not to!

As always, please share your Sunday Post in the comments below so I can check out your blog and post. Thanks for stopping by!

  1. It’s summer here but it’s cold and raining today. Weather is strange. Have a great week. 🙂

  2. If it makes you feel any better, I’m not looking for any romance heavy books for February, either. I’m reading my usual mysteries.

  3. So many books! I have no overlap with your reading list: I’ve never read any of those authors. Same is true for other bloggers. There are just so many to choose from! It never occurred to me to read romance in February (or any other time). I like mysteries and ordinary fiction.

  4. Great wrap up! Looks like you read some good books and have even more good ones lined up. I can’t wait to see what you thought of Tempest of Tea and Tainted Cup as both are anticipated reads for me 🙂 I feel overwhelmed by all the new releases that I will never be able to read every month tbh, lol. I hope you have a great week ahead!

  5. I’m always overwhelmed by books. I’ll never have enough time to read all of them. Enjoy your nice weather! I need to shovel today because it snowed a ton yesterday.

  6. I got motivated this morning by Bonnie at Bonnie’s Books and requested a lot of picture books so I can celebrate Black History Month. I ought to read one romance, I think.

I get overwhelmed when there are so many great books out, too.

    1. Oh, I love that idea! I’ve been buying and playing video games by black creators this week, but I really need to make time for books as well!

  7. Yes, I feel it! I was not ready for January to be over. I’m excited for the books coming out in February but there are so many books I haven’t finished yet!

  8. The Bad Ones is on my TBR. Glad you’re enjoying it so much! Yeah we had the spring like weather this past week, and so then when it turned gloomy and cold again this weekend a lot of people were unhappy. But it’s only February, so we’ll see how it goes! Have a good week!

  9. I always have a big TBR even if it’s a slower release month. Partly it’s because I read many genres. I loved the Tainted Cup and can’t wait to read your thoughts.

  10. I don’t usually read the latest and greatest books right away so I don’t feel overwhelmed by that. I do feel overwhelmed in general because I have so many books on my TBR and I’m never going to get to them all, lol.

    Have a great week!

  11. The Arsenic Eaters Wife sounds intriguing
I don’t think I have any romances on my schedule for February, I might have to add one

Wishing you a happy reading week

  12. Terry Pratchett Ebook bundle seems like a good wy to spend a weekend! Happy reading! Idea-ist@GetLostInLit

  13. My February is pretty hectic too. I’m still trying to get it all on the schedule. And it’s a short month. Here’s my SP: https://bonniereadsandwrites.com/2024/02/04/sunday-post-making-memories/

February and March are always overwhelming months for me, but for different reasons than books. But yes, I agree, so many great sounding books are coming out this month! I am glad you are able to enjoy warmer weather. We had a couple days there of nicer weather, but it’s turned cold again and more rain is here. I don’t mind so much as I love the rain. Just not the cold. I am glad to hear you are enjoying The Bad Ones. It does sound really good! My husband just got me the Terry Pratchett e-book bundle from Humble Bundle. I have been eyeing the a romantasy/urban fantasy dramatized audiobook bundle. I’ve read a couple of those, but I wouldn’t mind re-reading them via audiobook. I hope you have a great week and happy reading!

  15. My genre goal this month is Romance and I also want to read books with Valentine in the title (just for a bit of fun!). A couple of the books with Valentine in the title are murder mysteries though 😂.

There are some good book covers there to lure you in!

    Have a good week!
