Sunday Post: Back Shelf Books 3/24/2024

Welcome back to Back Shelf Books for another Sunday Post!

Thanks so much to everyone who wished me well last week with my health issues! I’ve been taking things easier this week, which has been nice! I’m so excited for gardening season. My little tomato sprouts already need to be put in larger containers and my basil is growing like crazy. It’s incredible to me how resilient plants are. No matter how many days I forget about them or ignore their existence, they keep on going and growing.

As always, I’m linking up with Readerbuzz for The Sunday Salon, Reading Reality for Stacking the Shelves, and The Caffeinated Reviewer for The Sunday Post.

Upcoming Posts & Reviews

I finally got my reading mojo back! Woo! I should have reviews of these books up next week: Bad Dreams in the Night by Adam Ellis, Where Sleeping Girls Lie by Faridah Àbíké-Íyímídé, and Draw Down the Moon by P.C. Cast and Kristin Cast. I’m also hoping to (finally) bring back Back Shelf Saturday with Emily Wilde’s Encyclopaedia of Faeries after taking two weeks off.

What I Read This Week

My reading this week was incredibly varied! I read one YA fantasy, one sexy thriller graphic novel, one mystery on the Orient Express, and one literary fiction. It was a pretty good reading week overall, and I didn’t hate any of these books. My review of Like Happiness is up now and my review of Draw Down the Moon will be up on Monday! You’ll have to wait until closer to publication for the other two.

Currently Reading

If you get stressed out by someone having lots of books in progress (like my husband does), then this section isn’t for you. I know I’m in progress on too many books, but I just can’t commit to only one book right now!

Stacking the Shelves

I’ve been requesting less books on Netgalley until I make progress on my current arcs, so my stack is quite small this week. I’m extremely excited for Lucy Foley’s The Midnight Feast and Beth Revis’s Full Speed to a Crash Landing.

Weekly Goal & Final Thoughts

I’m hoping to get through quite a few reviews this week. Fingers crossed it’s a good week.

What did you read this week? Anything good?

I hope you all have a great week! Thanks for stopping by!

  1. I have to find new pots for my herbs this spring. I heard that plastic pots will leach chemicals into the soil, so I’m looking for bigger clay pots.

    1. Oh, good idea! I do my herbs in an raised bed, but I’m thinking of doing a small kitchen herb garden in pots this year too.

  2. I love to garden myself; I enjoy the outcome. And tomatoes are always on the top of the list, lol! Happy Sunday, Hannah!

    1. There is NOTHING like homegrown tomatoes.

  3. I’m very curious about Catchpenny and The Midnight Feast. Looks like you have a lot of good books to read, enjoy!

    1. I’m so excited to get to The Midnight Feast! Lucy Foley is a bit of a toss up for me usually, but this one sounds good!

  4. It’s a lovely time of year if you are bringing on plants for the garden. I’m hoping to get back to sowing seeds either later this year or next year:). The cover for Draw Down the Moon is gorgeous and I’m awed at how many books you have in progress… I tend to read one at a time. Have a great week!

    1. I’m always a bit jealous of people who can commit to one book at a time. I feel like I always need at least two going at once! I’m so glad it’s Spring now! Such a lovely time of year.

  5. I’m definitely one of those crazy readers who has lots of books going at one time. I’m glad to see how much you enjoyed Like Happiness and Cascade Failure.

Our garden is amazing this year. I think we have had just the right number of cool nights here for growth.

    1. So happy to hear your garden is going well!! I feel behind with my plants, but I ALWAYS feel behind with the garden this time of year. Happy reading this week, Deb!

  6. I miss having a garden. I loved all the fresh vegetables, but I don’t have time during the summer. I hope you enjoy all your books. Emily Wilde is a lot of fun.

    1. I’m loving Emily Wilde! Such a fun book so far!

  7. I’ll be interested to see what you think of Catchpenny as I almost took that one. I hope you will be feeling better and enjoy your reads this week!

    1. I’m really liking it so far! It’s a slow book, but I like a slow read every now and then. Definitely interesting so far!
