Welcome back to Back Shelf Books for another Sunday Post!
How is it already April?? It feels like it was just January! I can’t believe we’re a quarter of the way through the year already.
The 2024 Hugo Award nominees were announced this past week. While I’m extremely disappointed in what happened with the 2023 Hugos, I’m also willing to give the Glasgow Worldcon a chance this year. As a 2024 Hugo voter, I’ll be looking into all the nominees in all the categories, so lots of reviews will be forthcoming. Have you read any of the nominees? I’m probably most excited to read Thornhedge by T. Kingfisher, Starter Villain by John Scalzi, and Liberty’s Daughter by Naomi Kritzer. I also can’t wait to watch the movie and tv show nominees!
As always, I’m linking up today’s post with Readerbuzz for The Sunday Salon, Reading Reality for Stacking the Shelves, and The Caffeinated Reviewer for The Sunday Post.

Upcoming Posts & Reviews
I’m excited for this week! Several of these reviews are already scheduled, so I’m excited to remember my thoughts on them all over again. We’ll also *finally* have another novella review on the blog with Nghi Vo’s The Brides of High Hill!

What I Read This Week
It was a FULL week of books. Reviews for several of these were listed above. Romancing Mister Bridgerton was a reread, and I enjoyed it more that I remembered from my first read! A Fall from Grace by Jennie Goutet was an accidental reread, actually. Have you ever gotten halfway through a book and realized, “Wait, I’ve totally read this. I know this book.” It wasn’t in my Goodreads read list, but I had definitely read it before. 🤷🏼

Currently Reading
I’m trying my best to finish up Catchpenny by Charlie Huston. I’m moving slowly, but enjoying my time with it. I also just picked up Otherworldly by F.T. Lukens (which just released!) and I like the writing so far.

Stacking the Shelves
I picked up quite a few ARCs this week, mostly of dark sf/f/h books coming out this fall. I’m hoping I will be in the mood for dark reads in late Summer/early Fall! Foul Days by Genoveva Dimova is the exception, as it releases on June 25, 2024. It sounds absolutely fantastic and I just couldn’t pass it up!

Weekly Goal & Final Thoughts
What did you read this week? Any good recommendations?
I hope you all have a great reading week!
