The Sunday Post: Reviewing the Week and Looking Ahead – 12/17/2023

I haven’t posted a Sunday Post in years, but I missed all the fun! I also love a good recap post, so I couldn’t resist rejoining again.

I’ve been on a Christmas vacation in the mountains with my family for about a week, so my reading schedule has been a bit off. I’ve been reading more short fiction, anthologies, and graphic novels – things I can pick up and put down easily enough without needing to remember my place and refresh my brain. That being said, I’ve read some excellent books this week, some of which are arcs of books that don’t come out for quite a while.

Upcoming Posts & Reviews

The upcoming few weeks will have me finishing up a few December arcs and 2023 releases on my TBR. Expect reviews or posts on these books this week!

What I Read This Week

A lot of graphic novels, spanning science fiction, horror, and cozy fantasy. I also picked up a few anthologies, but didn’t quite finish those.

Currently Watching & Reading

My husband and I are currently in the middle of an Alien and Predator movie deep dive. Expect a thorough review of my thoughts soon. I’ve got a review copy of Aliens: Bishop waiting on me, and I found a copy of Aliens: Vasquez at my local used bookstore. Trilled to have both.

During our vacation we dove headfirst into the Bourne series again, as well. I forgot just how much I like those movies and how great of an actor Matt Damon is.

I have audiobooks waiting on me after my holiday trip, and I can’t wait to get back to them. I’m most of the way through The Endless Vessel by Charles Soule, and it is just incredible. It might turn out to be a favorite of mine for 2023.

Final Thoughts on the Week

I’m super excited for the holiday season, even if my “holiday” reading has been more weird fiction and graphic novels than actual holiday reads. I still have a few more fun books and arcs planned for this holiday season. I hope the remainder of your year goes well, and that the holidays don’t stress you out too much! Happy reading!

  8. No one will come back for us has to be one of the coolest covers I’ve seen in a while. Happy holidays and I hope you get a lot more relaxation time with reading and binge watching galore. And give that kitty, if you can pet it lots of extra pets from me. 🐾😸

    1. Absolutely! Tons of head scratches!

      1. That’s awesome. We have a new cat that just started coming around this summer for food and he just started letting me pet him a few weeks ago. He runs when everyone else comes around though.

It is hard to get any reading done when on vacation with family. Love Aliens! Enjoy your movie re-watch! I might get the Bishop audio as well. Have a wonderful week!
