The Sunday Post: Reviewing the Week and Looking Ahead – 1/7/2024

Welcome back to Back Shelf Books!

How’s everyone’s first week of 2024 going? I still felt a bit under the weather this week, so it turned into a week of audiobooks. I love listening to audiobooks when I’m cleaning or feeling sick, because it takes all the “work” out of reading. I did manage to get quite a bit of writing done on the blog this week, so that was nice! Nevertheless, I’m excited to start a new fresh week.

News & Fun

On Tuesday, I posted my Top Reads of 2023. I’d love to hear your thoughts! I had a few indie reads on my list, mixed in with a bunch of traditionally published books, comics, and graphic novels. I’m really happy with my 2023 reading, but I’m also pumped for what 2024 has in store!

Today, I also posted my tracking post for my 2024 challenges. I’ve already made a dent in some of my challenges, which is super exciting!!

Upcoming Posts & Reviews

These are the books you’ll likely see from me next week! Of these, at least one is an Infinity Star book and at least one is a 3 star book. It’s a mixed bag, guys.

What I Read This Week

I had a bit of a wild reading week! 3 audiobooks, 1 ebook, 3 graphic novels, and 1 family role-playing games guide. I probably won’t get quite as much read this next week, though!

Currently Watching & Reading

Currently Watching:

We FINALLY watched all the Alien movies. We still need to go through the Alien vs. Predator movies, but I’m a little afraid I’m going to hate those.

Currently Reading:

I read a book this week that just about put me in a reading slump (stay tuned for the review of said book next week). Because of that, I’m reading a few books that are a bit less intense to hopefully prevent any slumping from occurring. The Lady is Trouble is a Regency romance with a paranormal/supernatural twist and it’s very fun so far! Elemental Games is a sci-fantasy YA/NA Hunger Games-like book. VERY EXCITED.

Library/Libby Pick-Ups

I have been brutal on Libby this week. I’ve picked up a ton of SFF novellas for my 2024 novella challenge. I might not make it through all of them, but hopefully I get through a few!

Final Thoughts on the Week

This has been a crazy week for me! Hopefully the rest of the month calms down, though I don’t have too much hope there. I plan on listening to more audiobooks this next week while I do some early-Spring cleaning.

Please share your Sunday Post in the comments below so I can check out your blog and post. Thanks for stopping by!
