Top Ten Tuesday: Ten Books from the Past Ten Years on My TBR

Top Ten Tuesday is a weekly blog meme hosted by That Artsy Reader Girl. It was born of a love of lists, a love of books, and a desire to bring bookish friends together. These are all things I can wholeheartedly get behind.

This week’s topic is “Bookish Goals for 2024.” I’ve talked a lot about my 2024 goals, intentions, and bookish challenges here on Back Shelf Books, so I wanted to spend this Tuesday talking about something a little different.

Here are ten backlist titles from the past ten years, one from each year, on my TBR. I may not get to all of these in 2024, but I hope to get to some of them!

  1. The Long Way to a Small, Angry Planet by Becky Chambers (July 29, 2014)
  1. The Aeronaut’s Windlass by Jim Butcher (September 29, 2015)
  1. Wolfsong by TJ Klune (June 20, 2016)
  1. All the Crooked Saints by Maggie Stiefvater (October 10, 2017)
  1. Skyward by Brandon Sanderson (November 6, 2018)
  1. The Monster of Elendhaven by Jennifer Giesbrecht (September 24, 2019)
  1. Black Sun by Rebecca Roanhorse (October 13, 2020)
  1. My Heart is a Chainsaw by Stephen Graham Jones (August 31, 2021)
  1. Sea of Tranquility by Emily St. John Mandel (May 5, 2022)
  1. The Book that Wouldn’t Burn by Mark Lawrence (May 1, 2023)

Have you read any of these? Are they worth keeping on my TBR?

Please share your TTT in the comments below!!

  1. This was a fun topic! I could publish a list like this as well since I have PLENTY of books on my shelf to still read and discover. 🙂

    1. 2016 and 2019 were the hardest years for me!! Both had so many series!

  2. I haven’t read that Becky Chambers book yet either!

Here is my Top Ten Tuesday post.

    1. I don’t think I’ve read a single Becky Chambers book. Hoping to change that in 2024!

  3. Ooh, this is such a fun change in topic! I might have to bookmark it for a rogue TTT day! 😂 I’ve got quite a few of these on my TBR too. I’m hoping this year will finally be the year I read Chambers’ series! Sea of Tranquility was one of my first 5-star reads of 2024 so I hope that you end up loving it whenever you pick it up. 😍

    1. Ooooh good to know!!! Station Eleven is one of my very favorite books of all time, but I know it’s very different than that!

  4. Please find a moment to read “Sea of Tranquility” I am so glad I did.

Great list! Makes me want to pick a book from each year to add to this year’s TBR.

    1. I think I will! I adored Station Eleven by this author and have been meaning to read more of her works.

  5. I like this topic! I’d like to do the same with my books, especially ones I’ve gotten for review that slipped through the cracks.

  6. This is such a good interpretation of the topic xD
I finally got to Sea of Tranquility last year and it was everything it promised to be. I hope you enjoy it as much as i did!

I hope you get to The Long Way to a Small, Angry Planet. I enjoyed that one. I really want to read Black Sun this year too. It’s been sitting on my TBR too long. I have the second book too, so I have no excuse. I haven’t read any of the books in that particular Jim Butcher series, but I do want to someday. And Sea of Tranquility is one I hope to read too. I hope you enjoy all of these as you get to them!
