Review: Dusted in Snowflakes by T.M. Mayfield
It’s nearly February, which means it’s almost love month! I’ve never really been into Valentine’s Day, but I’m making an effort this year to feel into the love spirit. I’m trying to add a few more romance-heavy books into the mix, starting with T.M. Mayfield’s cozy fantasy Dusted in Snowflakes. Continue reading

Four Mini-Reviews: My Recent Indie Romance Reads
When I’m feeling a bit of burn-out from heavier books, or just if the goings-on in the outside world feel like a lot, I often pick up a romance book. Sometimes they have SFF elements and sometimes they don’t – it just depends on my mood that day. Regardless, I never know where to put… Continue reading

Review: Yumi and the Nightmare Painter by Brandon Sanderson
Like many others, I jumped on the Year of Sanderson Kickstarter in 2022. I actually haven’t read much Sanderson, but I knew I wanted to support these Kickstarter stories of his nonetheless. I waited far too long to begin reading the four books released from the Kickstarter, but better late than never, right? The gorgeous… Continue reading

This week’s… Continue reading

I found myself constantly wanting to know what came next. Whiteley has created a speculative masterpiece. When you think you have it figured out,… Continue reading

I do this every week to ensure I’m reading more than just newly released and forthcoming titles. This is my FIRST Back Shelf Review of 2024, and I am thrilled to get… Continue reading

Review: A Fragile Enchantment by Allison Saft
Out of all the gaslamp and regency-adjacent fantasies I’ve ever read, A Fragile Enchantment easily tops the list. Its delicate politics, Whistledown-like gossip column, and romance intertwined with magic and thorns make for an unputdownable story. Want a perfect night in this new year? A Fragile Enchantment, a cup of tea, and a cozy blanket will definitely do… Continue reading

Welcome back to Back Shelf Books! 2024 is the Year of the Novella on my blog, which means I’ll be reading a whole lot of speculative, sci-fi, horror, and fantasy novellas to find the best of the best. For more info on what I mean by “The Year of the Novella,” here’s my intro post.… Continue reading
