Top Ten Tuesday – Popular SFF Authors I Still Haven’t Read (But Actually Want To)

Top Ten Tuesday is a weekly blog meme hosted by That Artsy Reader Girl. This week’s topic is “Mainstream Popular Authors That I Still Haven’t Read.” Because I mostly review Science Fiction and Fantasy books here on Back Shelf Books, I limited myself to only SFF authors. And, because I like to make things even more difficult on myself, I decided to only list authors I actually want to read. Could I list ten authors I never intend on reading? Sure. But that doesn’t help me add books to my TBR.

Without further ado, the list of authors and the books I want to read by them:

  1. R. F. Kuang – Babel, The Poppy War
  2. T. Kingfisher – Nettle & Bone, What Moves the Dead, Thornhedge, basically everything
  3. Jim Butcher – The Cinder Spires series
  4. Liu Cixin – The Three-Body Problem, The Wandering Earth, To Hold Up the Sky
  5. Nnedi Okorafor – Binti, Who Fears Death, Lagoon, Remote Control
  6. Dennis E. Taylor – Bobiverse series, Outland,
  7. Ursula K. Le Guin – The Left Hand of Darkness, The Unreal and the Real, The Word for World is Forest
  8. Rebecca Roanhorse – Black Sun, Tread of Angels
  9. Fonda Lee – Jade City, Untethered Sky
  10. Timothy Zahn – Heir to the Empire, Thrawn

Let me know if you’ve read any on the list and how it went. Who’s your favorite fantasy or science fiction author? Please share a link to your Top Ten list below so I can check your post out as well!

Here is my Top Ten Tuesday post.

  2. The only one from this list I’ve read is Jim Butcher (The Dresden Files) and I really enjoyed what I read. I’m far from caught up on the series, but it’s on my list, lol. And he’s an absolute riot on panels at conventions.

    Here’s my list… Here’s my TTT: https://funknfiction.com/2023/11/14/top-ten-tuesday-mainstream-popular-authors-that-i-still-have-not-read-yet/

  3. I love T. Kingfisher

  4. I’ve read R. F. Kuang’s The Poppy War and loved it.

    Great list!
